    Hello fellow Homegrown fans,

I am a new member here though I’ve been lurking here for several weeks as I assembled my “Grow Your Own”

My first 01 HG factory came fron a liquidator auction in 2002 for $325.I had no idea what I had bought, but it sure looked and rode nice. I enjoyed it quite a bit until 2010 when in a drunken stupor I left it in the front yard after a ride. Needless to say it was gone the next morning. After a couple months of vain searching and depression I bought a Motobecane fly-pro with similar componentry and weight but it just wasn’t the same(like riding a steel girder), although the disc brakes are nice.

Recently, I bought a NOS frame on ebay exactly like my old HG(maybe you saw it listed) and I was in business. After reading posts here and elsewhere I was able to gather everything needed to put her together. Swapping parts from the Moto to the HG, everything went great. I now have a “new”

homegrown and couldn’t be happier. I’ll post some pics of the completed project soon as I’m having a little trouble with the user interface here.

Thanks for all you folks have put on this site as it was an education and an inspiration,

    John

I was hoping for a little less but I can still tuck it under my arm and carry it over obstacles pretty easy. The rims are a little beefier to take my 200lb. load. kenda small block ( work pretty good here) Xt hubs, derailleurs, and cassette, FSA megaexo crank and bb sid shock and elixer cr 160mm,Jagwire ripcords, Ritchie post, stem n riser bar. ergo grips w/horns. some how that adds up to 22lbs even 3.1 for the frame. how bout them RED spoke nipples?? Hey thanks for checking it out and the comment.

Been hammering for a couple months now and love this setup way more than the original. Looking forward to summertime trail riding.
