Those are getting hard to find. I would advise getting a 2001 because of the seat stay disc brake mounts. I looked for 2 years before I found an NOS Limited frame, but they are out there and they're not cheap. I just assembled all the parts for the build and will start next week. The Limited bikes/frames pop up on this site sometimes, as well as a popular auction site. Good luck in your search. I tried to attach a photo but it won't upload.
Thanks for the pic! Gorgeous frame, that's exactly what I am after. The 2001 being 650B compatible is huge! I didn't know it was compatible. Thanks for the information!
Let me know if you ever want to sell yours!
It's tight but will work if you get the right fork too. I use a 2006 Rockshox SID but Fox forks will work too, just make sure it has a straight steerer tube. The 650b wheels are disc and that's why the rear brake tabs work well on the 2001. I was just adding up the cost of all the part for my build and I will have almost $3000 into it by the time I finish, but that's with NOS and top notch components. Also the reason I rarely sell any of my bikes. These bikes sell for around $900 to $1000 for a complete bike in reasonable shape from what I've seen. I will keep an eye out and will forward you any information I find. What size frame do you use?
It almost sounds like a project second to none you're into!!
At 3k it must turn out magnificent.
Looking forward to see the finished bike. Happy building.

Honestly more than I expected, but I added all the parts and that's what I came up with. NOS is expensive these days for that frame, and the NOS XTR 952 shifters/front and rear derailleurs, and XTR disc hubs. The only thing not NOS or new is the Tomato saddle, Monkey Lite bars, and the XTR crankset.
There's a 2001 on a popular auction site although it's advertised as a 2000. Hard to tell condition from the pictures but it is priced right. It does say that the bike is well used. Worth taking a look at.
Wow that's pretty crazy. I don't think I paid more than a couple hundred bucks for any of mine, and I haven't seen prices like this anytime I've been keeping track.
Selling a 2001 Homegrown Limited. Tried this at auction but high bidder had zero feedback and doesn't respond to messages. Waste of time. It's still for sale, let me know if anyone's interested. It's only flaw is a small dent in the seat tube but otherwise it's pristine!
I'll be honest with you Dude. The frame looks to be in nice shape, better than most that are 15 years old, but people are wary of this deal now. The frame sold at an unbelievable price to someone with zero feedback. The dent in the seat tube wasn't mentioned in the Ebay auction and multiple message offers to sell to other bidders less than 24 hours after the auction ends is unusual. Normally the seller is paid within 3 days to a week after an invoice is sent to the buyer. There is an official second chance offer option to the next highest bidder that may or may not have been utilized. You have 100% positive feedback, but all those things added up make people wary to proceed with a purchase. Just sayin...
I understand. I laughed when I saw the ending bid over $1000 and knew no one's paying that much. I did hear back from the high bidder and I got a "Sorry, I can't pay" message. I figured if any other bidder was serious I should contact them right away. The only bidder to respond bid $755 and then offered $300?!? Said he got caught up in the bidding. LOL! Not sure why people bid on stuff they don't intend on paying for. But it happens a lot as I'm sure most people know already.
I bid it up over $1000 with intent to pay, but that was contingent on other buyers being interested at such prices. It's like investing in fine art, the value is determined by other people's willingness to pay. I'd do $650 for a great condition 2001 19" Homegrown Limited just on its merits as a well-made frame, but the seat tube dent concerns me enough that I don't think I can quote you a fair bid. I'd rather wait for a frame with only minor scratches and normal wear from routine use to come along.

2001 Fastback Limited with Easton and SRAM carbon stuff
That's a really nice looking frame, but it's dented in a bad place. Frames crack at the bottom bracket welds and there's a frame like that hanging on display at Fort Myers Schwinn with a crack at the bottom bracket. If someone buying that frame wants to ride it they are taking a chance it could crack with use. JMHO
If your 2001 Factory Limited is in nice condition, I’d consider buying it. I’m in no hurry to get one, but I would like one someday.
If you’re talking to me it isn’t for sale. I’ve just built it and it’s not been ridden yet. the parts are almost all NOS including the frame and I got a lotta $$ in this one. Plus I usually don’t sell my bikes. A Farelli above might still have his frame. Check out above.
How is the ride with that 650 fork? Does it change the geometry too much or have you found a perfect axle to crown distance?
really nice build by the way;)
