WTB: 33.8 Seatpost Clamp for Project Underground

Hi all,
I am looking for a more correct looking seatpost clamp / collar for a '97 Project Underground I recently purchased.
The correct size should be 33.8mm, and I've attached a photo of what they look like.
Let me know if you have something laying around that looks right. I'm hoping that the Homegrowns from that era used the same clamp, otherwise I might be out of luck.

Please email me at

.

Thanks,

Graham

I noticed that my 1996 GT Zaskar LE uses the same type of clamp (but a different size).

Does anyone know who made these? Or is it just a Schwinn/GT part?

Thanks,

Graham

I know this is an old post, but did you ever find a seat post clamp? Both Undergrounds I have have a 31.8mm clamp. The paint was all chipped up under the clamp so I drew a line on the seat post with a pencil around the bottom of the clamp and took all the paint off under the clamp. I touched up below the line and then clear-coated. The 31.8 clamp fits perfectly. The paint on those frames is THICK!

I used finger nail polish I got it at Wally World to touch up. It's called Pure Ice, Strapless(label on the bottom) is the color. It is a dead match for the blue, but the metallic is just a little smaller than the original. I gave it 2 thin coats of the fingernail polish below the pencil line and I used Krylon Triple Thick Clear Glaze for the clear coat. I taped all around and covered everything with cloths before spraying the clear and then removed the tape immediately after spraying. I went over it twice with the clear. After it dried I rubbed it out with Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0 to remove the tape line.

My daughter laughed at me because I went to several places in the mall and carried the frame inside to help get a good match. I went through about $30 and 6 different colors before I went to Wally World and found the match. The funny thing is, the nail paint seems to be tougher than the original paint.

Ah, yes, I have a few bottles of "Sinful Colors" nail polish stashed away. Pretty much a perfect match, but I don't think they make it any more.

I remember seeing the Sinful Color mentioned and looked everywhere for the color, but couldn't find it, even though Sinful Color is still made. Before I found the Pure Ice color I went through about 6 different colors that dried with a purple-ish tint.

Back to the seatpost clamp issue. I have 2 PU, and the seatpost diameters are the same inside 26.8mm, BUT the outside diameter on one is 1 mm bigger! It has to be the finish. The method I used on the first bike with a 31.8 clamp won't work for the other bike. I didn't find that out till I went to changeout the seatpost clamp to another one. I found a place called DKG Machine Shop that manufactures a 33 mm clamp and ordered 2. I'll let you know how that works out.

The 33mm post clamp was tight but worked fine.
