Rear shocks

Just finished my build and the rear shock is of course leaking.  Loses about 90PSI overnight.  Looking at replacements and rebuilds.

Currently a Fox ALPS 4R.  So first is it worth rebuilding?  Anybody have a rebuild manual?  Which tools are needed beyond standard hand tools?

Looks like Risse Racing in my neck of the woods does rebuilds and they sell new Risse branded shocks that fit 1998 S10, 20, Homegrown, anybody have one?  I assume based on what I’ve read that the shock length and stroke were the same for the entire Homegrown run.  Can anyone confirm?

Finally, anybody use their rebuild service?

Well I ended up calling Risse since I was going to be in their area Monday.  Getting a new shock from them (Astro 5) and they’re going to install and adjust it to me while I’m there for no additional charge.  I doubt my 15 minutes riding on the Fox is going to give me much to compare it to.

I was pretty much there anyway, but I guess I’m going full modern.

Post some pics when you get back. I have an old Fox rear shock on a 2001 Rocket 88 frame I plan on building later this year which it isn't leaking now, but you never know.

Here’s the rear shock.  Works well.  5 rebound adjustment options.  No lockout.

Red zip ties to match the cables. I think you might have one-upped me on the anal factor, and I’m pretty anal about bikes! Looks damn good.

LOL, yeah the sad part is I ordered a second set of zip ties because the first set wasn’t a close enough match.
