ParticipantGot myself a 99 Banger now! It’s pretty rough, but has some good parts on it. I’m getting that frame from 2manyschwins, so it’ll get a huge makover.
That brings the total to 3.5 Homegrowns.

ParticipantGot my new frame from 2manyschwinns today. It looks sweet, and with my red 2000 frame, I should have enough parts for at least 2 Bangers. Here’s a new group shot.

ParticipantHeh, I’d like to get a couple more. A 98 or 99 Factory hardtail (Red/Silver or Red/Gold please), and the Green 98 Sweet Spot.
Of course that would only be a collection of 98 and 99 Homegrowns. I think the early bass boat blue and “Phantom” style paint jobs would round out the collection. I’ve never seen one of the Phantom styles before, only in the catalogs.
Think 3 or 4 Homegrowns is too many? You should see my non-Homegrown Schwinns:

MemberThat 1998 homegrown is absolutely beautiful.all i have left is a 1998 MOAB 1 aluninum and a 2005 schwinn fastback pro. What is amazing i changed to a full carbon frame with all my Fastback parts and only lost a pound.Tha fastback was a great climber.I got the fastback to just under 19lbs by replacing the wheelset very inexpensively.Ive tried to sell the frame locally on CL but never even got a hit.Kinda wish i didnt switch the frames.(my wife has diagnosed me with bike ADD).The moab is a great bike that i picked up inexpensively.People see the schwinn name and Think of the wal-mart specials. It was kinda funny to see my roady group with their Madones and orbeas lose the sprint to the town lines.Passed by a schwinn.

MemberBlue, your HG4B is interesting. Along the way, it looks like someone put the SID shock from an All Mountain version on it, as those shocks were only on the gold/silver frames with the dual-crown fork. Your collection looks better than mine, that’s for sure. I have three of my bikes reduced to a pile of parts at this point as I build up my UberBanger for next year.
Our collections are remarkably similar – I have the same color Carbon Sweetspot, I have two blue HG Bangers, I have a red non-HG Banger, but instead of your nice HG hardtail, I have my 98 Moab. Someday I’ll have an HG hardtail, though. Just not yet.

ParticipantI noticed the weird build on this bike. Has an XTR front derailler (but only 1 chainring), and a regular Deore rear derailler. The higher end (supposedly) SID, and I can’t figure out what the front fork is. I don’t like the crank, if it’s a nice model let me know, because I have no idea. XT hubs, don’t know what the wheels are either. Hayes brakes. Chris Kind headset, which I like. I’ll be taking all my best parts too, and making a nice Banger, with the other two eventually becoming “Beater Bangers”
I’ve found it interesting that of the three Bangers I have, two of the chainstays say ‘Lawwill’, one is blank. And two of the carbon swingarms have the ‘Easton’ square, one does not. I only wish at least one of them had the black dropouts.
Speaking of the Gold/Silver frames, those things seem to be rare. I’ve only seen one picture of one, someone over on MTBR has it.
