    Hi all,
I’m glad I found this cool site devoted to Schwinn homegrowns. I’m from down under so you don’t see many Schwinn bikes down here. I finally got back to home after sometime in Europe where my weekend ride was a Rocky Mountain Blizzard which I built up. I finally got around to sorting out my stuff and got around to unpacking a brand new Homegrown Factory Limited frame which I acquired on my first trip to the US after university in 2001. I am looking to build a new bike but not sure whether I should kit it out with retro gear as close as possible to the specs for it back in 2001 or fit it with newer gear. The difficulty so far is to source a good fork which has the v brake bosses as most newer more expensive forks no longer support v brakes. Option is for me to look for a used fork in good condition and refurbished with oem parts. I’ll be back in the US for a month in the summer so hopefully find suitable parts to build her up and ready for a ride by summer. Any suggestions and comments from you guys will be very much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Alan

If it’s a 2001 I would just build with disc brakes, since it’s got the IS standard mount on the frame. Obviously not as light/simple as v-brakes but easy to source and be consistent on frame and fork.
