For 1998, Schwinn added the “All Mountain” series to the line of Homegrown full suspension bikes featuring John Castellano’s Sweet Spot® URT design. The Homegrown All Mountain frames were made in Taiwan by Top Key and fitted with a Rock Shox Coupe Deluxe coil-over rear shock, providing the same 3.75 inches of travel as the Homegrown Factory Suspension frames. The seat tube and head tube angles were relaxed .5° and the top tube was lengthened slightly and a 100mm travel fork was used on the Homegrown All Mountain in place of the 80mm forks used on the Homegrown Factory Suspension.
The Homegrown All Mountain XT was the top-of-the-line offering, featuring a Shimano Deore XT drivetrain with upgraded Deore XTR rear derailleur. Hayes hydraulic levers and calipers provided the braking, with the rear brake using Hayes’ 22mm direct mount. A dual-crown Rock Shox Judy XL completed the build kit.
