The Homegrown Straight 6 took Lawwill’s proven design and applied it to a Homegrown, in the form of Vertical Strokeā¢ dropouts and a Rock Shox Coupe Deluxe pull shock. The Homegrown Straight 6 and the 1999 Homegrown Straight 8 are unique in that they are the only full-suspension Homegrowns actually produced by Yeti (7005 main triangle only). These frames were only available in 15 inch, 17 inch, and 19 inch sizes. The geometry of these frames featured significantly slacker head tubes than all other Homegrowns, in order to accommodate the long-travel fork. Likewise, the wheelbase was lengthened considerably for stability at speed, measuring nearly 2 inches longer than most Homegrowns.
The suspension fork was the new Rock Shox Boxxer dual crown fork providing 150mm of travel and the drivetrain was 8-speed Shimano XTR using an integrated chain guide/tensioner for the single chainring. Hayes hydraulic discs provided the stopping power and were mounted via the Hayes 22mm direct mount.
