Schwinn Homegrown Model Identifier › Forums › anybody else do a 650B Homegrown?
or am i the first?
I was just talking about building up one of my frames as a 650b last night.
I guess I’ll go forward with it now, seeing how badass that one is.
Anyone ride one of these with 650 and provide feedback?
not yet, laid off unexpectedly, so my build stopped at the point of ordering the hoops to lace… be back in action this spring, hopefully….
Any news on how a Homegrown performs when setup with 650b?
I mightgive it a go on my ’99 Pro…
None yet. so a lot has changed since i started my build and courtesy of some sweet industry stuff, i’m expecting to be on the trail in april with a nice new 1×10 650B homegrown with a custom lefty up front. =)
the one thing i did notice was 650 x 2.2 tires are a tight fit in back. i’m currently talking to maxxis and kenda about trying out some 2.1 widths for the season.
Never did get around to updating things on here. the bike is finished, although i did stick with the wolverine 2.2 tires. a very tight fit, but the wheel has stayed true, so no rubbing the epicenter stays yet…
i took 3 quick pictures before i took it out for the first ride, but lost all the better pics from my last phone when it died…
some have asked about ride qualities, (ok, so it was just spoon, and he can borrow it sometime if he wants, but i digress…) it’s a FAST bike. the bb height is a little high and you can feel it when you go to lean the bike into corners, but that is to be expected a bit. steering remains as lively as ever.
Sorry guys, Don’s post got stuck in moderation and I didn’t see it for some reason. *man_in_love*
