MemberGetting back into riding and was pleased to find this forum. Fell in love with the bass boat paint back in 1998 at the LBS.
Hope to pick the brains of some pro’s here as I rebuild my Homegrown.Right now I’m in the process of stripping it all down and putting on some new parts. Replacing the fork with a z-2 bomber, headset with a King, brakes with avid ti’s, and wheels with some Mavic Crossmax ceramic’s.

MemberI have many, lol.
I just meant as I start rebuilding my bike I’m sure I may run into some oddball homegrown specific questions.
So here’s one, whats the max size width tire you can run in a hardtail homegrown? I don’t remember tires getting quite so wide back in the day, but just from measuring it seems like a 2.5 tire should work. I’m currently reading review after review trying to find a decent XC tire. Also from what I can tell the tires sold as tubeless still work with tubes, correct?
Thanks!

livernoseParticipantUnsure about what the largest size would be since I run 2.1 and they have plenty of room. Somebody on this site would know. And tubeless tires will work with tubes, but they are more expensive than the tube tires.
