Schwinn Homegrown Model Identifier › Forums › General Stuff › Homegrown Talk › Is this frame real?
Hi I bought this frame a while back and not sure if it’s a real Schwin Homegrown or not. If it is can someone give me an idea of the kit it would have had on it? I want to build it to a full bike again but if it is real I will try and go for original kit. If anyone can shed any light on it that would be cool.
Found the serial number I think it is 01BBW00601
Looks like a real one to me. My daughter has the same frame. 2001 Homegrown Pro, the only year that IS brake tabs were installed on the seat stays so you can use disc brakes pretty easily. Take a look at the Homegrown models tab at the top of the page to find this bike with a list of the original components. I attached a picture of my daughter’s bike with the velocals decals installed. You would have to make sure you order black letters with dark gray shading if you want them like the originals. Kinda pricey but worth it. http://www.velocals.com/schwinn-pro-homegrown-sku-481/
I just looked at the Homegrown model tab and the frame looks to be a 2000. The seat stay IS brake tabs are clearly visible in the picture. I didn’t know the 2000 model had those, I thought the 2000 model had the 22mm chainstay disc mount.
Great thanks guys
Livernose is right; I mistakenly posted the 2001 catalog picture instead of the 2000.
Livernose knows his Homegrowns! Way to bring clarity to puzzling question. Nice bike, look forward to seeing it built up! Peace, -D-[quote=john]
