The Ringle Moby seatpost and red Crupi headset were finds. I’m still working out some kinks–the Paul Motolite rear brake is a little finicky on smaller frames–but other than that it built up pretty nice.

    Other build notes:
-XT 1×11 with Race Face Turbine cranks
-Paul brake levers, Motolite brake in rear with TRP Spyder Disc up front
-Suntour Axon w/thru axle, DT Swiss front wheel, XT drive wheel
    -Ritchey Logic pedals
-Legit Old School Panaracer Smoke and Darts (I had to sacrifice small body parts for these)

If bikes were cocktails, this is one of those fruity drinks that come with an umbrella that you’d be a little embarrassed to order, but good thing it’s for the girlfriend. Honest!

I think it looks pretty cool. Always good to build with exactly every single part and bit you want. If it is for your GF I am surprised she went for that saddle. Must be the sparkles.

oh lolz yeh there’s a ladies Titec floating around that gets put on for “real rides.” The sparklies pretty much just for pics and display, as is that saddle bag. It’s too small to fit anything useful.

Not going to lie, when I saw the thread title I got a little worried based on some of the odd SPAM I’ve killed.

Pro tip: marry a redhead, then every day is redhead Monday. *drinks*

Sweet build. I have a pretty similar build on my 98 Factory XTR, including the red Motolites, which are an absolute PAIN.

Note to self…keep working on gallery…soon, guys!

Man you need to make a book! Like a big, oversized coffeetable book featuring the new-er Schwinns. I bet you have industry contacts to make it interesting, get a forward written by Richard Schwinn, feature some opinion pieces from big riders from back in the day, then throw the whole thing up on Kickstarter.

I’ve had more than one person tell me they’d really like to learn more about the later Schwinn’s after seeing my collection, and I invariably send them here. For some reason, everyone thinks Schwinn died in the 60’s….

Ha, no worries about the hackisode…there’s all the fun stuff that either never makes it to the big stage or gets taken down quickly. So many people spamming so many weird things…

Book idea is pretty interesting…haven’t had much luck tracking down riders but could still give all that a shot one of these years.

I think the time might be right; it’s been long enough that a lot of us old grumps are starting to get nostalgic, and half those old-school racers are on Twitter now, and the other half Facebook. You’ve got a great stash of primary catalog materials–that’s already like half the work right there. There would probably be some companies that we could get involved–all these guys have marketing and PR departments that are supposed to do this kind of stuff. I’m sure we can twist some arms and at least get photos of vintage team and race gear–maybe we can even score interviews and stuff along the way.

The trick is to make them track us down, and not the other way. 😉
