I have totally been enjoying my Schwinn S-20 but have kept searching for a REAL 17” HG- and I found one on Ebay the other day!! 1998 Factory in Bass Boat green! And no, I did not pay the sellers asking price…

Should have it some time next week. Excellent condition from the pictures, the guy was the 2nd owner and just had it in his basement for the past 8 years.
I will probably build it up like my Schwinn S-20;
Raised handle bar stem with Ergon bar ends
Ergon seat
9 speed 42/32/20
12-36 rear casstte
Risse racing Genesis or Astro rear shock
100mm front shock or rebuild the one on it (if needed)
Shimano XTR 9020 pedals
Be sure to post some pictures when you get the HG.
Jeff,
You bet I will! I might wait until I have some mods done. Have most of the parts already to go.
This was a birthday present to my 61 y.o. self!
Hence the Super Granny setup..
Can’t have too many bikes. Great BD present!
I’ve alwys wanted a sweet spot, but I haven’t found the right one yet. I am getting ready to build a Rocket 88 frame I’ve got with XTR and Avid disc brakes. That will be the closest thing to a sweet spot so far.
Glad the Factory FS went to a good home. Definitely post pics!
Jeff,
What are you looking for in a HG?
size, etc..
Casually looking for a nice factory Sweetspot with a 19” frame that isn’t all beat up. Bassboat paint would be nice.
You are wanting maybe something like this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Schwinn-Homegrown-MTB-/131930531337?hash=item1eb7ac2609:g:S4wAAOSw-kdXzmtP
I saw that one, and liked the frame and XTR crankset and rear derailleur too.
I’ve got a SID front fork all rebuilt and ready to go and 9 speed shifters. Maybe even convert it to disc brakes.
I am getting ready to rebuild this shock with Enduro seals. It’s been boxed up for a long time and looks better than anyone I’ve seen from the same era.
Well a nice BB Blue would go well with that shock!!
Figured you’d probably seen it. The missing piece to my collection but the 19” is just a bit big for me. Still debated it as bike art for a minute…
