First thanks for all the information you all have contributed. I recently saw a online listing for a 2001 Homegrown Comp for $80 and had only one poor picture. I contacted the seller and arranged to meet so I could check it out. While waiting for the 2 days u tip the meeting to pass I found this site. Really helped to confirm that when I got to check bike out it was legit.
The bike was almost completely stock with the exception of newer Deore shifters replacing the stock ones. I ordered some new 2.3 Schwalbe tires for it and of course a new tomato topcap. I also added the Flite saddle.
Please let me know what you all think.
Unbelievable deal for the bike but watch out for tire clearance on the frame. Even if there’s clearance when you’re just spinning the wheel in the workstand it’s possible there will be rub when cornering, under load, etc. These were originally designed for narrower tires.
Thanks for the heads up! The Schwalbes usually run a bit small. Do you have any other suggestions?
You got a killer deal. Can you post a pic of the new stem cap? Did you order it from Kustomcaps?
