Hey all, new to the forums and want to run something by the HG experts. Has anyone heard of a Brian Foster signature limited edition? Supposedly ’99 or ’00. I can’t find anything in Models images that resembles it.
Any help would be great!
Never heard of such a thing. Several of those stickers were available on their own. Looks like someone slapped a bunch of stickers on a Moab or HG but would need more pictures to determine which.
Does the riveted badge on seat post mean anything? Supposedly this was a custom build for a Schwinn racer, although this is a 17.5” for a 6’1” bmx dude…
The seat tube bade isn’t riveted; it’s just a double-sided tape badge. They’re on ebay from time to time and were used before the end of Schwinn’s contest to name the new “proprietary” alloy. N’Lightened was the name they chose, which led to the badge they started using, in your last photo. The ???? badge was used on some early 2000 frames. Judging on the other items of this frame (chainstay yoke, no “ram air” stays visible, etc., cable stops on tube tube), it’s a 97-98 Moab or Homegrown frame with a bunch of stickers on it.
Sorry for late reply, I have been following this thread. The bike was for sale on the ‘bay when I found it, but after a bunch of research, it had previously been posted a few times in a CL listing out of Redding, CA. Someone basically posed this bike as an “original’ built from Schwinn factory and given direct to a Schwinn BMX racer who then sold off. The whole story was just mysterious and elusive enough to get my attention, mixed with a too-good-to-be-true price, but I passed at the end of the day.
A big thank you to this site for the info around here! Hopefully goes to show how coveted a true homegrown is (and should remain).
