Had this bike for 15 years and havn’t ridden in 5 + years. Manitou shock is dead. What speciifc shock can I buy that is 100mm of travel? Not that techical so I need any information/specs that could help me get the correct shock, as I want to replcae it myself. Grateful.
I like the Rockshox SID or Fox RLC100 or F100. If you’re running disc you can use pretty much any shock if it has an 1 1/8″ straight steer tube. If you are running V brakes you’ll need to find a shock with brakes bosses. I like the old SID Dual Air years 2005-2006. Very light fork and pretty easy to rebuild and priced right. I also like Fox RLC100 and Fox F100. Not as light as the SID but larger stanchion tubes (32mm versus 28mm) and a little more rugged. I usually look on a popular auction site, or post here on the “wanted” forum, or both. Also, make sure the steer tube is long enough for your frame. I usually look for one with at least an 8″ steer tube. I ride a large frame.
Much appreciated Livenose. I will take all your suggestions and find somthing that works great.
