Have a leaky Original front Judy Shock. Wondering if its worth rebuilding. Dealer just told me to upgrade to a newer more modern shock and get rid of the original front disc. If anyone out there knows a link on how to rebuild it myself or a link to someone who rebuilds them please let me know. I do want to get rid of the front disc and go with XT brakes up front. Rear is XTR. The Judy has some scratches and the stickers are coming off. I would like to know if its worth rebuilding. Also if anyone has a link to where I can find SCHWINN stickers for the frames downtube due to them peeling off.

I contacted schwinn directly and all their new stuff is painted on in China. ThanxAugust 4, 2009 at 1:04 am #2305blue72beetleMemberDown tube “Schwinn” stickers should be available, might just have to keep you eyes open and be patient on ebay. I’ve seen other people replace those. This guy did, might want to ask him:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270434446460&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:ITI wish I had some of the diamond “Homegrown” stickers, but I think they are unavailable. A piece of mine came off, they seem very fragile. I’m going to try to get a local graphics place to make some. Maybe see if they can do the checkered racing flags too.
August 4, 2009 at 2:46 am #2307ziggyMSUMemberIf you have the blue and silver frame of a 98 factory, I have the sets. I think I may have a few. Can you post pics of your bike that way I can make sure? The 98’s are different than the 97’s….I am looking for 97’s. Wish I could find them.

August 20, 2009 at 6:38 am #2316Ruffway25MemberI think im just going to upgrade to a Tora. I could get one for like 170$
October 27, 2009 at 11:13 pm #2375Gassy GarryParticipantRuffway25, I have the same bike & need the pin(?) that holds the brake pads/shoes in place. Do you still have it? If so would you be willing to sell it or the whole disc brake set?
October 28, 2009 at 1:40 am #2377JohnnyQPublicMemberDid you replace your fork yet?
If you want to have it rebuilt you may want to check out http://www.hippiesuspension.com/hippietechsuspension/id1.html.
I thought about going that way but decided to replace the leaker on my HG with a new one.November 9, 2009 at 1:32 am #2390ElanMemberJust go to ebay there is always at least a few stickers for sale. I am sure if they don’t have what you want up for bid or buy it now you can request it with them. just type in ” schwinn homegrown” hears a link
December 28, 2009 at 9:41 pm #2444Alex-7MemberDon’t skimp on suspension forks! These nice light bikes deserve nice light forks forks!
Buy used if you have to. I just redid a ’96 Homegrown as a christmas present for my girlfriend and Ebay’d an ’06 Fox F80 for $200 shipped!
A used $600 fork is better than a new $170 fork anyday in my opinion.
December 29, 2009 at 3:50 am #2451WisconsinJayMemberGreetings, long time lurker – first time registered poster
Currently have 1 built 1997 Homegrown Killer Tomato Red, decked out with an XTR/XT mix & orginal fork (slowly dying) and a 1998 21" bassboat red frame still in bubble wrap with an XT crank, Thompson Seatpost & Chris king Headset.
Regarding the Stickers — I have a couple of sets of the diamond stickers from the 1998/1999 frame sets amongst a bunch of other homegrown stickers, schwinn downtube stickers & some Yeti downtube stickers..
December 29, 2009 at 4:21 am #2454blue72beetleMemberIf you ever decide to sell the stickers, you’ll have a line of people interested, including myself.
December 30, 2009 at 2:59 am #2456WisconsinJayMemberI will attempt to get the sticker sets photographed & uploaded to place on here..
As far as selling them, I really hadn’t thought about it – but if you are in need & I have them available I’m sure things can be worked out, we’re all in this together eh!
Here are the links to 9 photos — I have to upload the rest sometime, the only thing not really pictured are a set of white SCHWINN downtube decals and a pair of red in the same,
December 30, 2009 at 3:30 am #2457blue72beetleMemberI’ve got some similar to those. That large round one is neat, I only have small ones. I don’t think I have one of the later 00-01 style stickers either. I’ll have to put them all together for a picture sometime. But I don’t want to sell any!
I don’t have any downtube stickers, those are hard to come across too.
December 30, 2009 at 4:21 am #2458bikericMemberI could use 2, but maybe 4 of those Diamond "Homegrown" stickers. I could also use some white downtube decals. Let me know what price you need. These homegrowns with Bass Boat paint do not like to keep their decals intact. The decals were applied after the final clear-coat. Hope to hear back from you WisconsinJay.
December 31, 2009 at 8:07 pm #2462blue72beetleMemberI’ve been planning on looking into the same thing. A local graphics place makes stickers for our batteries at work. They told us they can put whatever we want on any kind of material we want. I’ve been thinking of bringing them my Homegrown diamond stickers and seeing if they could make em smaller and closer to what is on the bike. Also thinking of bringing them my hardtail and seeing if they could somehow reproduce all of the checkered stickers. That would be golden there.
