MemberI bought this beautiful bike but it’s just too small for me. The pro mechanic at my LBS wanted to buy it for his girlfriend to race, but it’s too big for her. I might be willing to take less today as there’s another bike I’ve found that I want if I can get this sold. If I have to put this on ebay negotiating is out the window. As the mechanic said, this could be a flat out race bike.

Limited Edition 2001 17″ Gold Anodized Schwinn Homegrown. Weighs in at 21lbs but could easily be built lighter.
Components include:
Anodized Aluminum Gold 2.9lb frame!
Full Shimano XTR build kit with V-Brakes
2007 Rock Shox SID with 10 miles on it.
Titec Titanium stem/handlebar, carbon post.
Mavic Crossmax Tubless wheelset.
The bike has not had more than 10 miles on it over the last seven years or more. I bought the bike because it is such a classic and is in amazing shape. However, it’s just too small for me. The mechanic at Sunday Cycles wanted to buy it for his girl friend but I think it’s too big for her. He says it’s a flat out race bike.April 11, 2010 at 1:36 pm #2672surfink

MemberHey Surfink,
Sorry for the late response as I’ve been watching my 4-year-old daughter all day. I would take $800.00.

ParticipantI think that’s from the 2000 model year, although it could definitely have been sold as new in 2001. Homegrowns from 2001 had IS disc brake mounts. It looks like your bike has 22mm Hayes mounts.

ParticipantLooks like a 2000 to me too. 2000 models had a smaller badge on the seat tube, 01 models had the large badge that says “N’lightened” Of course I’m sure there are always exceptions. Same frame either way.

MemberHey Gopher,
I might have a deal in place for someone to but this today. However, since the deal is not done yet, I’m willing to listen. I can’t trade as I need the money from this to finish another project. If was just a couple of weeks earlier I would likely have gone for it. Please email me @ davecrice@yahoo.com and give me you phone number and I’ll contact you right away. I’ll check this site throughout the day today. Thanks in advance.
