MemberI’m debating between x7 and slx, any suggestions? I have a 99 schwinn moab all vintage shimano lx, I’m thinking of just swapping, I don’t know this is my winter project.
Thanks

MemberShimano, but that’s just my opinion. Still soured from mid nineties Grip Shift. I still run 8 speed though.

MemberAnyone know the size of the bottom brackets on 98 schwinn homegrown factory full suspension? Also need a new headset, project is going a little less smooth than I planned haha.

MemberWidth should be 68mm. The crank and BB from the 99 Moab should should fit right in. Some early Homegrowns used White Industries cranks, and those bikes had longer BB axle length’s, but the shell width is always 68mm (Carbon Project Underground?). I’m curious about the frame your building. Is it a 4 banger, straight six or sweet spot?

MemberYea I put my moab bb on it and the plastic on the left side cracked when I put it on. Its on but theres nothing to grab with the wrench haha. It’s the sweetspot, it’s the bass boat green factory. i’ll post some pics when I finish. I have to run new cables and I keep getting messed up around the rear shock. thanks!

MemberI just checked my frame, and it is a 73mm BB shell width. Please disregard my previous comment from a couple days ago. I hope I didn’t mess you or anyone else up. Sorry guys, my mistake.

Memberhaha no worries, I’m just going to order a new one from nashbar. I pulled mine and it was to dirty to still read the decal.

Memberso all done except bb, anyone got one? I can’t find a square tapered 73mm 113mm anywhere, I really only need the plastice part that goes on the left side. The rest is fine.
Thanks guys

MemberI know I saw a square taper BB rolling around in my garage. I’ll check the size when I get home. If the size is right, you can consider it yours.

MemberThe BB is a UN-72 73mmX113mm. It is used, but still spins smoothly in the hand. The threaded cups are alloy not plastic, so I would prefer to just ship the whole thing instead of one end. $10 through PayPal gets it to your door.

Membercool where do we go from here?

Memberforded (at) okstate (dot) edu
Give me an email and we can work it out. The $10 includes priority USPS shipping, so I might earn $3 on the deal.
