I am new to this bike thing, but we are selling a frame that states homegrown on ebay currently and a few people are telling me its not a homegrown, would greatly appreciate any input on the subject, I dont want to mislead anyone.

In short, the chainstays are not asymetrical, the seatstays are not of the s-bend variety and there is no canti boss, and obviously it’s repainted and re-decaled. The cable stops also seem off. The dropouts also seem to be flat stamped, unlike what I’ve seen on other Homegrowns.

I don’t know exactly what that is but it doesn’t look like a Homegrown. Check out the 1995 model details and catalog for a bit more info and images.

That is a Specialized Stumpjumper M2 Metal Matrix frame.  Likely from 1995.  It should have a gusset below downtube next to the head tube.  On that gusset will be the foreward cable stops.  If that is the case……Stumpy!!

I saw that frame on ebay and asked the seller a bunch of questions.  This is not a homegrown.  Although there is an expanding market for M2 frames.  The seller told me through correspondence that he was informed by a lot of people that it was not a homegrown, but due to the item having a bid on it, he could not stop the auction.
