Hi there,
Happy that I stumbled up on this site. It looks like I may have picked up a factory xtr homegrown….I’m wondering if I got lucky and it’s a durango/yeti build. I’m sure there are lots of posts like this, so sorry in advance for being obnoxious.

I’m a little confused because the bike is the bassboat red/gold like the 1998 xtr factory model, and it does have XTR everything (front der., rear der., cranks, wheels, shifters) and titec stem, seatpost, handlebars, sid fork. The conusion comes in because there are easton logos on the rear chainstays, but a usa tomato logo (somewhere on the site i read that the tomato indicates a non-yeti). if so, then why the easton logos on a non-easton bike?
thanks for helping me clear up the confusion. yeti or not, it seems like a really fun light bike, and I’m going to have a blast making it into a singlespeed.

October 8, 2011 at 4:57 am #3261walkthelineMemberyou seriously traded booze for a bike? Awesome…
You are likley correctly in that it was a yeti frame. basically this was handbuilt for speed and weight.
Would you ever consider a trade? What size it is?

October 20, 2011 at 10:59 pm #3269johnKeymasterLike you were speculating, it’s a 1998 Factory XTR, and hence a Yeti bike.
The reference to the extra tomato was at the top of the seatstays. These bikes typically still had the canti brake cable stop locating there, whereas the red Homegrown LXT from 1998 (the one my buddy had) had an extra tomato decal. Check out the differences on this page: http://hornrim.com/websites/bonustomato/?q=node/106
I’m not really a rum guy but I’d say you did quite well for yourself, assuming it wasn’t some super-expensive bottle of rum.
