Schwinn Homegrown Model Identifier › Forums › The Shop › Wanted › ’97 Buffed HG Resto Ideas – NEED Decals!!!
Just picked up a buffed ’97 frame in fair to poor condition. Now I want to do a full restoration with parts I’ve been saving for “just the right project”, including a 950 XTR groupset, ’99 Manitou SX Carbon fork and red anodized Mavic 317s.
I want to restore the frame using a drill mounted buffing wheel and replace the graphics. The frame is filled with various sized scratches and I am wondering if I should try to diminish them with 3000-4000 grit wet sanding before buffing?
**Any suggestions as to the best way or products for polishing/re-buffing the frame along with decal options would be greatly appreciated.**
Don’t know if you still need the decals, but I had a guy in California make me a set of Factory Homegrown decals several years ago. Not sure if he’s still in business, but I can forward you his contact info. Let me know.
