That looks like a 2001 frame to me. judging from the disc brake tabs. Looks pretty nice.houseodogs-9e600252-e2d7-4183-bbac-2fa37ef568f0zpsfqyvcsam.jpg

Looks like a 2000 anodized frame. I have seen nlightened badges on post bankruptcy frames but that belongs on the seatpost. 2000’s had the question mark badge.

I bought this air shock from Risse Racing online for my 96 factory xt. Probably will work for your carbon jobby.

Specs are 5.5 inches extended, stroke length is 1.25 inches. Made in the USA. They also rebuild the Alps 4,4r, 5 and apperently most shocks and forks

I decided to get a replacement from Risse Racing. I chose the Astro-5 model for it’s adjustable rebound lever. I installed it last night and test rode today. I find that it works quite well and looks finely crafted. They seem like nice folks at Risse and say they will make a shock to fit any bike.

Thanks for the replies. The Cloud nine seems like a great option though there is only a 6″ model available. My existing alps is 5 1/2″. That is going to change the geometry a bit.Travel is longer as well but I don’t think that is an issue. I’m going to evaluate the pros and cons of going that way. As far as the stratos, I’ll check into that as well. I’m sure somebody in this group has had some experience with this issue and can impart some sage wisdom. I’m all ears, don’t be afraid to put your two cents in.

Been hammering for a couple months now and love this setup way more than the original. Looking forward to summertime trail riding.

I was hoping for a little less but I can still tuck it under my arm and carry it over obstacles pretty easy. The rims are a little beefier to take my 200lb. load. kenda small block ( work pretty good here) Xt hubs, derailleurs, and cassette, FSA megaexo crank and bb sid shock and elixer cr 160mm,Jagwire ripcords, Ritchie post, stem n riser bar. ergo grips w/horns. some how that adds up to 22lbs even 3.1 for the frame. how bout them RED spoke nipples?? Hey thanks for checking it out and the comment.
