I’ve sent an email to Problem Solvers, I’m hoping maybe they would consider a small production run. It would be great if this could be more easily available to more riders. 🙂
May 28, 2024 at 5:36 pm #6820Heeroyuy01195ParticipantThanks for the update Dylan. That would be incredible if they picked up this project with you! Did you have any photos of the final version mounted to your bike?
May 28, 2024 at 8:17 pm #6822dylan_tackParticipantThere’s a photo on the shapeways page: https://www.shapeways.com/product/YW267MDJH/hayes-22mm-to-flat-mount-brake-caliper-adapter?optionId=323519444&li=shop-inventory
June 3, 2024 at 9:35 pm #6831MantraParticipantHi Dylan, How long was the wait for the PCBWay parts?
I have a couple of 1999 Klein Mantra’s that I would love to update the rear brakes on.
I also don’t have a bunch of space in my rear triangle (S/M frame) I’ll try to attach a pic, if I can figure that out.(nope, I wasn’t able to get it to attach) I’d be fine with bumping up from a 160 to a 180mm rotor. Is that really as easy as adding a 10mm offset between the original slots and the modern flat mount holes?
I’m fine with sticking with 160mm if the caliper will fit. I was thinking of trying to use a flat mount Hope X2, which I think is pretty compact and would match my front brake. (cable routing might be an issue tho as it is also angled forwards and down)Does anyone who’s ordered some already have one or two adapter plates in stock they would like a buyer for? (I haven’t figured out how to DM people yet). I’m also quite curious about the dimensional differences between yours and 737’s? Do they both put the pads in the same track on the rotor? Did you have a model for the caliper you are using for CAD?
Thanks

In terms of the dimensions, a millimeter here or there doesn’t really matter since there is plenty of room for adjustment in the slots. It just needs to be dead flat so the pads run true with the rotor. I fine-tuned my pattern by test-fitting a few home-printed plastic prototypes.
I would expect adding another 10mm would let you use 180mm rotors, assuming there enough clearance to the chainstays, but I haven’t tried it.
June 7, 2024 at 1:28 pm #6834MitchEatonParticipantHi all. Just joined the forum. Dylan pointed me to his design and I’ve printed a 3D plastic prototype to test on my 1998 Elite. Looks like it’s going to work great so I’m sourcing a local CNC as well as a water laser jet cutter company to see which is more cost effective. I think I can reduce the per-unit price a bit if I make it have a larger order. Is anyone interested in adding an adapter to this order? I’m guessing with shipping it’ll still run about $50 but I’d rather have it made locally rather than abroad.
Cheers (and thanks Dylan!)-MitchJune 7, 2024 at 1:34 pm #6835Heeroyuy01195ParticipantUS made part on a US made bike seems like a good fit. Count me in!
June 10, 2024 at 12:54 am #6836MantraParticipantUS made would be a plus as would a better than 3 week lead time!
CNC would certainly be a better finish, but at this point I don’t think that’s a priority.
Do you plan to have them anodized?I would be interested in 1 for sure. (If I can mock up before you order I might even want two)
Does anyone happen to have a CAD file for a flat mount brake (basically any make/model) that I could use for clearance mock up?
Feel free to PM me about this since I haven’t figured out how yet!
June 10, 2024 at 1:52 pm #6839tomatoadminKeymasterSorry, direct/private messaging isn’t working at the moment, or easy image/file attachments to posts. 🤦♂️
Working on it…June 18, 2024 at 4:21 am #6844MitchEatonParticipantOk, so I’ve put in an order to have 6 of Dylan’s designed adapters cut using a laser water jet. A bit cheaper this way. Instead of 5mm thick, these do be 4.77mm, which will actually center my disc better into the caliper. They will be aluminum but not anodized. I’ll make them available at cost, plus actual shipping charge. Who’s still interested? I hope they’ll be ready this week, but will let you know when I have them in hand. I can test on my bike (1999 Elite) with a TRP Spyre caliper and take photos if that will help. Any questions?
Ride on!
June 18, 2024 at 9:23 pm #6845MantraParticipantI’m trying to get a file together to 3D Print and see if that adapter will work for my Klein Mantra. If it does, I’ll be in! @tomatoadmin
please pass my email on to MitchEaton if you have a chance and are able to. (no worries, if not, I appreciate all the work a site like this takes and thank you for it!) Thanks!June 18, 2024 at 9:53 pm #6846tomatoadminKeymasterDone, Mitch has email. Haven’t been able to fix messaging yet but maybe this week I’ll have some time for it…
June 19, 2024 at 2:00 pm #6847Heeroyuy01195ParticipantHey Mitch, very interested! Looking forward to hearing more updates from you! @tomatoadmin, can you forward Mitch my e-mail as well? Thanks guys!
June 24, 2024 at 1:18 pm #6848tomatoadminKeymasterDone, @heeroyuy01195.
July 17, 2024 at 2:13 pm #68521derParticipantPlease add me to the list of very interested!
I have a 1999 Klein Attitude Comp that is just begging me for one for over 15 years. I even have one of the old nanoseth units from 15 years ago that I just could not bring myself to mount.
This flat mount is such an elegant way of going to disc.
If PM is not working please let me know how to reach you. Thx.
