MemberI dont see an adapter? I do see a difference in the brakes offset – looking at various shimano flats (mine are 7070) and 7110 etc none seem to have the forward offset in your pics…. what exact model are u using?

MemberOrdered Ultegra BR 8070 from Jenson. None at my LBSs. Looks like they have the forward offset. If u can confirm the 8070 it’d be appreciated…

MemberI will confirm tonight what P/N my Shimano caliper is, and post tomorrow. At quick glance it looks like the model I’m using has a lower bleed nipple then your 105. I apologize for causing you to go through multiple caliper options. I had no idea Shimano’s different models would vary so much.

MemberFyi… ultegra 8070 and 105s (7070) don’t work. Frames are too large and the bleed valves won’t clear on circa 2000 Homegrowns. Shimano stuff is in short supply as the factory in Malaysia been closed due to covid.

MemberThere are a few of the BR-RS805 calipers on eBay right now.

ParticipantWould those work with the rotors that came with the old Hayes (I think they’re 6″ / 160mm), or do I need to size down? Also, aside from the BR-RS505 that the OP has used, has anyone had success with SLX / XT / XTR calipers? Thanks!

MemberI do not know of any SLX, XT or XTR calipers with the flat road mount. The Hayes 6″ rotor will work perfectly. These do NOT appear to bolt right on and fit 2000 model Homegrown hardtails, and probably not Sweet Spot frames either.

ParticipantI’m going to try with these calipers: https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/deore-xt-m8100/BR-M8110.html
Also, looking at your pics, it looks like my 2000 may have enough clearance. Either way I’ll give it a try, and report back!
