MemberGlad i found this site.
I have a Homegrown I think Factory. I’m thinking about seling it since it just sits in my garage. Could someone tell me how to figure out the year? I’ve had since new but can’t remember when i bought it, probably around 98.

MemberCan you tell from looking at the catalog and model detail sections on this website?

MemberYes ok, I think it is this, 1998 Homegrown Factory Hardtail XTR. I can tell it’s a 98 because it has the X222 rims and ti bars, stem and seat post. The odd thing is the frame is a little different, it did not have Toyota, Easton and Michelin decals. The frame looks exactly the same as this one, 1999 Homegrown Factory. Maybe it was a 1998.5 or something. Oh and mine had the SL SID.

ParticipantA lot of times the frames would show up without those stickers on them. I remember somewhere on this forum, somebody telling a story about buying the same bike and those stickers weren’t on it.
If you decide to start riding again, you couldn’t start with a better bike!

MemberI’ve never stopped rding just had different bikes. I agree though it was/is a great bike, handled great.
Does anyone have an idea what the frame is worth if i were to sell it?

MemberI would estimate the “worth” of the frame would really depend on the buyer – I’ve sold frames for as little as $100 and as much as $300…….
Pictures always help. As do popular frame sizes 17, 19 & 21 inch.

ParticipantYou beat me to it.
Looks like a 98 to me. 21″ size too.

MemberI’m pretty sure it’s 19″ I’m 6′ and fits perfect. When i get ready to sell I’ll make sure.

MemberDoes $400 for the complete bike sound like a decent price?

MemberI would buy the bike at that price. The frame is too large for me, but I love those XTR 8 speed parts. Let me know.

MemberI had to replace the cassette to an XT and also the rear derailleur is now an XT. those parts are used very little. The left shifter is stripped but i would think it would be an easy fix to run a tap through it. The middle and larger chain rings are pretty worn and should probably be replaced. Having said that do you thnk it’ still worth $400?
