Schwinn Homegrown Model Identifier › Forums › General Stuff › Homegrown Talk › Homegrown Factory ?
Just to clarify what i mwan by stripped out. The shifter/brake lever can not be tightened so it moves on the bar. Like i said though easy fix i would think.
Its a 1999 “Factory” with some XTR and other parts added on, I have the same bike. Its a one off paint job and color scheme for that year. The last of the good hardtails.
Sorry friend but I don’t think. Mine was full XTR no XT also i had ti bars and a Sid SL fork. It was a sponsorship bike from Schwinn, the years of the regional Homegrown teams.
Look at the “Factory” paint jobs between 98 and 99 again… Its a 1999…
I see that. SO I have a ’99 Factory frame with the ’99 Factory XTR parts, cool.
No if it was an origional XTR bike it would have been a “Factory Team” (XTR) only available in black/bass boat gold which is one step above the “Factory” (XT) available only in bass boat red/bass boat silver. You have a 1999 “Factory” with non origional XTR parts on it. The paint jobs are one off per model so thats the easiest way to tell them apart. Nothing wrong with somebody upgrading the parts over the years. The yellow Rock Shox fork isnt 99 spec either… The “Factory Team used Rock Shox SID SL (blue) and the “Factory” used a SID XC (blue).
Its all listed on this website.
There has been too much speculation on what this bike is. Here is the skinny. It is the 1998 Factory Team bike. This bike came complete with Full XTR and the first generation 63mm Rock Shox SID. It was completely outfitted with Titec Titanium cockpit. Notice the canti boss on seat stay? That shows that these frames were left overs from 1997. They were the first frames available in 1998. Yeti built bike for sure with Easton tubing. I do not believe that you could buy the frame alone in this color, but that might be wrong. These did not match the catalog picture of the year (no Toyota or Michelin decals and plain white downtube stickers) which upset me when I bought mine, but I got over it. Dews bike has had the fork replaced, but all the shifting parts were the correct M951 8 speed parts. I know that because I bought them 😀
