Ok Homegrown conversion fans. I’m just about finally finished w/ the manufacturing of these 10 most recent Hayes 22mm adapters for your rear disc caliper update. I’ve heard from a few of you but have only had 1 or 2 follow-ups from interested folks. I was able to get these produced (laser cut and professionally beveled) at a cost of about $25/p.u. Shipping still estimated at $5 regardless of number. Reach out if you’re still interested, while these are still available! (don’t know if I have the energy for a 3rd round…). Hey all (including peekamouse, andyfettes, FlyLowMatt and anyone else following the progress),
Good news, I’ve arranged to have another 10 pieces of the 22mm adapter manufactured. I’m getting it fabricated from the same 5052 aluminum and I’ve modified the original file to align the slightly offset (2mm) elongated openings (which are for mounting to bike frame). So these should be a slight improvement over the last batch (but which have worked great, regardless). By ordering 10 of these, I’ve been able to keep the costs down, so they will run somewhere in the $20-30 range, plus a flat $5 for shipping (regardless if you order 1 or more).
If anyone has questions about how they’re working, maybe Heeroyuy01195 or Mantra can let the group know how they are functioning on their respective bikes.
Whomever is interested in buying one or more of the adapters, shoot me an email in the next week or so at eaton.mitch@gmail.com with how many you think you’d like. We’ll see how much demand there is before I ship multiple pieces to fewer of you.

MitchHi there. The batch of adapters I had manufactured have all been claimed. I’m sorry about that. I could look in to having another batch of 6 (or more) fabricated, but would need to see how much more interest there is out in the HG community. Their is a minimum cost of production, so doing 6+ allows me to keep the price per unit low (or reasonable). If there are still others out there that would like to convert their 22mm mount, speak up and I can look into it. Peakamouse, are you ok waiting to see what we hear?

MitchOk, so I’ve put in an order to have 6 of Dylan’s designed adapters cut using a laser water jet. A bit cheaper this way. Instead of 5mm thick, these do be 4.77mm, which will actually center my disc better into the caliper. They will be aluminum but not anodized. I’ll make them available at cost, plus actual shipping charge. Who’s still interested? I hope they’ll be ready this week, but will let you know when I have them in hand. I can test on my bike (1999 Elite) with a TRP Spyre caliper and take photos if that will help. Any questions?

Hi all. Just joined the forum. Dylan pointed me to his design and I’ve printed a 3D plastic prototype to test on my 1998 Elite. Looks like it’s going to work great so I’m sourcing a local CNC as well as a water laser jet cutter company to see which is more cost effective. I think I can reduce the per-unit price a bit if I make it have a larger order. Is anyone interested in adding an adapter to this order? I’m guessing with shipping it’ll still run about $50 but I’d rather have it made locally rather than abroad.
