MemberBrad:
I noticed there’s a new Fox Alps 4 on sale on Ebay for $75. 135mm eye-to-eye with a 40 mm stroke. How does that jibe with the original specs?
On the Ebay listing, it’s listed as a shock for the Cannondale Delta V, and I think these were being made at about the same time as the Homegrowns? I don’t know if it’s too far a leap of logic to think two big vendors of the time might be using the same shock.

MemberI was in a similar situation after taking a 10 year break, and opted to get a 2000 Homegrown Frame with disc mounts. I decided to stick with a hardtail, because it’s a bit more ‘classic.’ Too much of a weight trade off on fullies for my taste.

MemberI noticed the US made BMX frame is about a 1.5 lbs lighter than the overseas made one. They both have Epicenter seat stays. My XS has old-school cantilever stops.

MemberI’ve got a ’99 Schwinn Pro Stock, and when I got the frame, the headtube had a “Made in Taiwan” decal.
I also have a 96 Schwinn XS BMX. This one is made in the US, but I don’t know if it was made in Colorado. I would guess that they saved the really high-end fabrication for the mountain bike frames at the time.
As far as the S-Series full suspension bikes, I seem to recall that the reason they were designated the S line was due to the fact that they were fabricated overseas. They may share the Sweet Spot suspension, but they were heavier.
