MemberYeh that looks legit. Probably someone that got the frame unfinished, then powdercoated.

MemberI wouldn’t worry about it looks like a sweet ride. The fact any of these decals are surviving this long is a miracle.

MemberHi Shoichi,
I do still have the frame. I’m not too sure I want to deal with international shipping though. It would be a pretty big box, and everytime I try to ship something internationally, something always goes wrong 🙁
I was hoping to find someone that would be interested in a package with some other parts I’ve collected for this. It’s a pretty complete package of the hard to find bits, and all hardware’s brand new including the factory red bushings.
I also have a couple of original Homegrown stem caps, and the Easton decal for the tubeset.
Does this make the package more interesting? I was going to build it up 2×9 with Vbrake in back. I bet this thing would build up UNBELIEVEABLY light if done right.

MemberClear enamel should do it. I’d stay away from anything acrylic.
Something else you may want to consider: Clear vinyl protector, I think FrameSaver is a brand name. While it won’t be as permanent, the upside is you can re-do it if there’s a mistake, and you can usually peel it up with a little heat.

MemberWell that was my solution.
Running a hydraulic line took a little thought but everything bolted up pretty good.I just checked on my own bike, and even if you had that Hayes adapter, I think you’ll run into issues with fitting everything between the chainstay.

MemberLooking good. Depending on how thorough you’re trying to get you’re frame, you might want to consider using a chemical stripper. It’ll speed up the process a bit and isn’t abrasive on the metal–you know how thin that Homegrown tubing is!!!

MemberOnce you have it down to the frame, a wipe down with denatured alcohol and a lint-free cloth. Also make sure you’ve got a place to put it while it’s drying–it’ll tend to pick up lint and dust while wet.
About the only other thing I’d caution is to tape off the bottom bracket and headtubes, unless you’ve got tapping tools to scrape the clearcoat off. If you have an old headset and bottom bracket, you can install those temporarily and then remove them after spraying.
One mistake I see a lot of people making is neglecting the frame is 3D in shape. It’s not a bad idea to have a plan on going over each side multiple times lightly, including spraying from the bottom of the frame and the top.

MemberSo far my setup hasn’t given me problems, but it’s only been a couple of relatively light rides. I double checked, and the entire bearing is sitting properly–just doesn’t seem like it’s seated deep enough. The bearing seems pretty sealed.
Certainly doesn’t inspire confidence, but if SchwinnGuy’s looks like this, then I’ll just chalk it up as this is how they’re made.

MemberKrylon Krystal Clear in a can, unless you have access to an automotive spray booth. Lots of light coats, because it’ll run.

MemberHi Seth:
I can’t really tell from this angle, but you may need Hayes adapter P/N 98-15073. That replaces the bracket on the caliper, and gives you 51mm IS bolt holes, which should line up to the A2Z adapter.
Another potential (and more expensive) solution would be to get a 51 mm IS mount caliper, and do a new brake.

And of course, the new Lady Gaga album, and some vintage Spice Girls to balance out the mix. What–don’t hate!
