What I love about my bike is that it’s rare, somewhat exclusive. Only those that know their mt bike history appreciate them. Let others scoff, knowing only of Today’s Schwinn. Meanwhile those in the know, know a great bike when they see one.
With that in mind, I thought I’d start a post of local ads and spottings of these terrific rides.

What’s funny is how many people think it was built by Yeti, just because it says Homegrown on it.
We on the other hand, know better. In keeping with this thread’s theme, I spotted a brand new 2000 Homegrown Pro frame (orange) at a small bike shop in Alpena, Michigan. They wanted $500 for it.
September 23, 2009 at 7:11 am #2344Ruffway25MemberI was out riding the other day and another guy had one.It was a black 99 and it was the LX 6061 version. He refuesed to give his up either at any cost. If I didnt buy a new Tora fork for mine I would have made it a 96/69er. Oh well. Maybee I got to buy another one to do that right after I get my Project Underground that I just picked up on ebay for #400 bucks.
October 18, 2009 at 2:07 am #2366blue72beetleMemberI hope this isn’t one of our members here. If the local bike shop estimated it at $3500, then they surely would’ve bought it right out of his hands for $2200? Heck, my 98 XT was NOS and was only $1500 two years ago.

Maybe pick back up after Christmas…. J)
November 4, 2009 at 6:02 am #2387miguelba13ParticipantI nathan, I think we share the same interest for this bike…
I’m the current higher bidder!
I really think it is a unique piece, we just have few hours before the auction is over. I’m not probably going to be able to bid too much higher.. so be my guest and enjoy it! besides, I already own a Homegrown XLT 98 (the red carbon frame) Good luck!
miguelba13@gmail.comNovember 19, 2009 at 1:51 am #2402JohnnyQPublicMemberI think this one will be around for quite a while….

And no Schwinn headbadge, just a tomato sticker. Is this a re-paint, or is this legit?
November 23, 2009 at 2:51 am #2406JohnnyQPublicMemberI saw that one too…I’d say it’s a repaint.
November 27, 2009 at 12:24 am #2407blue72beetleMemberWell, those things were listed at almost $6,000 when they were new. But it seems that mtn bikes don’t seem to hold their value very well, when newer technology comes out. Especially after 10 years.
I’d keep sending them your offer. Especially if it’s getting toward the end of the auction with no bids.
November 27, 2009 at 2:19 am #2408JohnnyQPublicMemberI’d say it’s worth around $1,750…depending on actual condition of bike.
