I have been thinking of doing the same thing.  How do you prep the frame for a clear coat?

Thanks to moby’s generosity, I was able to add a little “sparkly green” to the black and red.  Much appreciated!

Thanks for the offer, how much do you want for them?  You can email me @ gss1123@q.com.

Thanks, Moby.  I did see some decals on ebay a while ago, but missed out on the bidding.  I am looking for at least a couple of period correct homegrown decals for the TT.   I would also like to score a couple Schwinn decals for the down tube.  I’m keeping my eyes open.

Thanks for the link, John.  I talked with Gary at SSS Ink Out this morning.  They will not have any Homegrown material until next year, at which time they hope to have several model years available.  He also indicated that they only deal with painters and powder coaters and not individules.  He does work with Spectrum whom I have spoken with regarding a clear coat application for my frame.  There are some Homegrown decals on Ebay, I might try that route.

Do you know how long of a steerer tube is on that Judy?  I have the same fork, but it’s too short to put on my HG frame.  I am searching for a crown with a steerer tube length of 8 3/4″.  If anybody here buys surfink’s bike, would you consider a trade of crown/steerer assembly?  Mine has a length of 7 1/2″

It seems correct that my frame is a 96, however my frame has the cable stops run along the top of the TT.  The 1996 catalog shows the similar “phantom” with the cable stops running along the side of the TT.

From what I could gather from the Schwinn catalogs on this site, I figure it is a 96 or 97.  The frame (according to the seller) was part of a liquidation Yeti/Schwinn did when one or the other was sold or went out of business.  Frames were sold in various stages of completion.  This frame lacks stickers/decals and is not clearcoated.  I was just courious if the serial # coiuld gleen any additional information.
