Bringing this back because stickers are actually happening and I want to make sure people that don’t hit the main page see the options for the new logo.

In terms of value, I haven’t been super active in looking at hardtails lately but given the model and condition I’d say you won’t be too happy with any offers you’ll probably get. I would expect more on the order of $300-$400. Might want to check ebay completed listings for a better reference too.

I don’t want to burst your bubble but that frame was made by Anodizing Inc. Short version: stamped dropouts instead of forged, extruded chain stay yoke instead of forged, gusset at downtube/head tube junction, all relating back to the Homegrown XT being a 6061 frame. Long version.
Good luck with the sale, just want to make sure everyone knows what they’re looking at, in case Yeti-made is important to someone.

I have one person that put in for one set for ’95, 2 sets for ’97, one 2000-2001, and one BT sticker. Otherwise if you tried to vote since my last post I have to apologize again. Alex, did you get a confirmation page after you voted? I’m seeing less votes than I would expect. I’ll be in touch on the other artwork and vendors.
Yours is definitely a 1995. That was the only year for the small pivot. They switched from angular contact bearings to bushings and a larger pivot tube for the later models.
Zoltan nailed the fit issues. To help keep up with your friends you could also go with some semi-slick or full-on slick tires that you can run at a higher pressure and will have a fair amount less rolling resistance.Definitely a cool story. Glad you got the bike back.
The Homegrown USA is mentioned in the 1995 “catalog” (actually a flyer written by Dave House of Mountain Biking magazine) but not on the “model details” page as that page, like others on here, needs a little love. The model breakdown is coming as part of a larger project.
One small, correction, however. Per discussions with the Homegrown product manager, director of engineering at the time, and senior product engineer responsible for design and sourcing on Homegrowns, all Homegrowns from 1995 were made by Control Tech. These frames were identical to the Project Underground frames that preceded 1995 but had a new forged dropout and replaceable derailleur hanger, which the Undergrounds lacked.
Though Yeti was acquired by Schwinn’s parent company, Scott Sports Group, in 1995, they didn’t supply Homegrown frames until the advent of the Homegrown Factory series in 1996. More detailed info on that front coming soon…
The decals are original. I put 3M protective film over them, though I kind of regret it. It’s not very noticeable at all but there’s no going back now.
The Yeti discussions are always interesting. There should be some more definitive info on here shortly.
Sounds like a 1997 Homegrown Factory. Here’s a couple of pictures of mine. You can see from the side shot where the S is on the top tube, and the last shot is a close-up of it.
The bike was offered in 3 colors: killer tomato red, black with red darts for an additional $150, or bass boat blue for another $150 on top of that.Cool, glad that one went to a good home. That shipping is pretty crazy but a decent total price. Love to see it when you get it all cleaned up and built up.
