Thanks for the feedback, guys. I definitely am having a hard time considering something with 4 inches of travel and weighing in around 25 pounds to be an “XC race bike.” Some of the geometries stray a bit from what I’d want as well but I guess I have to get out of 1997 at some point.

I’ve definitely thought about the Castellanos and have been wanting an AS-R for a long time, but I don’t think the wifey is going to allow that one. The ARC is definitely a bargain (at least to me-never should have sold mine). I hear they’re made in Taiwan nowadays but that’s not really so bad.

The Epic is definitely intriguing; I’d like to ride one again as I rode one when they first came out and was less than impressed, but it sounds like they are very much improved relative to the early models.

Anyone got any time on an Ellsworth Truth or Giant Anthem?

I’ll try to add that in as time permits, though the model specs I’ve uploaded for each model or year generally call it out in the meantime. That’s a 2000 Homegrown Pro, not Yeti-made, with the “Hayes-style” disc mount. Detailed specs:

Try that upload again. There was a hidden setting I’d missed but all should be well.

Thanks for the generous offer. There’s definitely some things I’d like to do with some dedicated hosting and a few other things but I don’t want to put a bunch of ads on here either. I was kind of tacking the tactic of waiting to see how much I can implement with the current hosting arrangement and worrying about it later, at least for now.

    Cheers,

    John

Can’t comment on the BMX frames as I simply don’t know, but the Fastback bikes with tomatoes came after Schwinn had let go of Yeti. The Fastback Limited and Factory were supposedly made in the US, likely by Andodizing, Inc.

The Sweet Spots were never made by Yeti; the S-series bikes may have been Control Tech or possibly overseas. I’m sure someone will chime in if they have additional info.

Signs and thermometer. The round sign is thin metal, the oval one is plastic, and the thermometer has a metal frame as well.

I’ll get some better pictures once I get these set up in the new man cave.

I’d been thinking about checking it out for a while but man it smokes! Switched to it at work too-I haven’t seen any issues here yet but let me know if you spot anything.

Still working on easier image uploads guys…trying to avoid a complete forum overhaul but will keep you posted if I stop getting dead-end solutions and actually start moving forward.

But, 2manySchwinns got an image uploaded. What you can do from there is right click on the image and get the image address, and then use it with the insert image. Voila:

Don’t get me wrong, I’m working on making it easier but for now this is one way to post images here without using some other image hosting service. I’m also going to donwload Chrome and check it out to make sure there’s no odd issues that occur with it.

     Eric,

Internet Exploder is definitely NOT the preferred browser. Firefox and Safari seem to be working fine (to the best of my knowledge).

I’m working on a way to upload images directly…bear with me guys.

If you click on "insert/edit image" (it’s the fourth one to the left of the smiley in the top row of the editor), you can link to any image you’ve got on flickr, photobucket, etc….it just needs to be a url reference. I’m working on getting file uploading back in here too so you could just upload directly from your computer.

It’s not worth the hassle of trying to sell, especially if it’s a 17 inch.

Like Nathan said, the market is a bit sketchy this time of year. I know I haven’t really seen much in the way of 4 Bangers on the bay lately but if you haven’t already checked completed auctions (advanced search) it’s a good way to see what past auctions have done.

There’s still some others on that page that point to the incorrect model as I haven’t uploaded all of them and did some copying and pasting when I originally set up that page. The same is true for the little bit of info on the 1999 page. I’m working my way through them, but the Factory Suspension XTR and Factory Suspension XT are now correct.  1998 Homegrown Factory Suspension XT

It’s either the ’97 Factory Suspension XT or the ’96 Factory Suspension USA (check the 1996 page for a small amount of info). The ’95 was available in the same color but had the smaller main pivot.

Fixed the link so your picture is showing now. Super sweet bike-is the gold bass boat?

There’s a picture of a bike that looks similar in the 1999 catalog, towards the back in the accessories area. I’ll have to scan that in sometime.
