livernoseParticipantWould the shim fit over the top of the seat tube? Because the only time I’ve used a shim is on the USE post on my BBB Factory and it inserted into the seat tube.
livernoseParticipantI’ve messaged him through FB and he’s gotten back to me, but takes a while. He’s a busy guy.
livernoseParticipantSame seat post size and my daughter’s 01 HG Pro is a hard tail, but it’s painted.
livernoseParticipantI’m thinking it is the paint thickness versus the thinner anodizing. Definitely slightly different sizes. Enough to make a difference in the tomato seat post clamp.
livernoseParticipantBut the Rocket 88 clamp fits perfectly on my daughter’s 2001 HG Pro.
I’m thinking there are 2 slightly different sizes.
livernoseParticipantUgh! Checked the Rocket 88 tomato clamp on my Limited and it was lose! Tightened all the way and still wasn’t tight enough. Tried it on my son’s 01 Black anodized Factory and it was lose too, but my son has a tomato clamp already and it works on my 01 Limited. Can’t take my son’s though. Oh well…
livernoseParticipantBought a 2001 Rocket 88 frame last week. When it arrived, guess what was on it? A tomato seat post clamp in excellent shape. It’s going on my 2001 HG Limited. Wonder if it came on the Rocket 88 when new? Anybody know?
livernoseParticipantI saw that clamp. I made the guy an offer and he did knock 98 cents off the price. Maybe I could do that price if it was NOS but it’s not. I want one pretty bad, but not that bad.
livernoseParticipantHaha! As soon as my son can make time for the trails we gonna get it dirty.

livernoseParticipantThat’s a really nice looking frame, but it’s dented in a bad place. Frames crack at the bottom bracket welds and there’s a frame like that hanging on display at Fort Myers Schwinn with a crack at the bottom bracket. If someone buying that frame wants to ride it they are taking a chance it could crack with use. JMHO

livernoseParticipantI’ll be honest with you Dude. The frame looks to be in nice shape, better than most that are 15 years old, but people are wary of this deal now. The frame sold at an unbelievable price to someone with zero feedback. The dent in the seat tube wasn’t mentioned in the Ebay auction and multiple message offers to sell to other bidders less than 24 hours after the auction ends is unusual. Normally the seller is paid within 3 days to a week after an invoice is sent to the buyer. There is an official second chance offer option to the next highest bidder that may or may not have been utilized. You have 100% positive feedback, but all those things added up make people wary to proceed with a purchase. Just sayin…

livernoseParticipantI’ve never seen a frame go for that much and it wasn’t even NOS. Sorry you didn’t get it. Somebody wanted it real bad. http://www.ebay.com/itm/252353158733?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
livernoseParticipantI used XTR 952 shifters and derailleurs right outta the box. Hard to come by these days. The XTR crankset is pretty clean.
livernoseParticipantI haven’t ridden it on the trail yet. It’s definitely higher off the ground. If I don’t like it I have another fork and wheels I can run. But I think I’ll like it, and I won’t have as many pedal hits with this one.
livernoseParticipantCan you post a few pics? Condition does matter.
