Looks like an original paint job. Early on the bass boat blues. You can see the head tube rub mark down to the black base coat. Someone put new stickers on it though. I think its a 96. Do you still have it?
It used to be you could buy a complete bike for $500 and part it and sell it for $1000…but now th margins are coming closer together. I’m curious what yours would bring… I think you should post some close up pics. The good news is that frame is a 19″ – which is my size. Sorry John, I know you ride 17″. what kind of 4banger do you have?
I saw that frame on ebay and asked the seller a bunch of questions. This is not a homegrown. Although there is an expanding market for M2 frames. The seller told me through correspondence that he was informed by a lot of people that it was not a homegrown, but due to the item having a bid on it, he could not stop the auction.
You can always tell the size of a homegrown by looking at the angle of the downtube and top tube of the frame. And, if there’s a gap where they meet at the headtube, then it’s a 21. The best measurement is the center of bottom bracket, to the top of the seat tube collar. It’s a good looking bike!

I have been looking at this bike as well. Look at the gap in on the head tube, where the top tube and the downtube converge. If there’s a gap on a homegrown hardtail, it’s a 21. On top of that. you have to go by the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube. If it measures 20.5″ it’s a 21.

However, at that point in time, there was a second project that was “Project Colorado”. I think that’s what this bike is. the frame and forks is orriginal to the build. There was even one of them presented to the Governor I believe. I think there are even pictures of it too on the site. The 95, if you look has a bent chainstay, this was also true of the Moab Elite and other earlier schwinn MTB’s. I think it may have started with the “MOS” edition bikes. I don’t know who built it, but I believe it to be the “Project Colorado” team bike and not the “Project Underground”.
That build up looks very nice. Everything looks like a good match. I had a 17" just like that that had the top tube sticker missing on the right too! Those decals are hard to find. I sold my FS a while ago, but it had a different shock…I wish I could find a super deluxe like the one that used to be on it.
none of the production FS had a forged yoke. They were all extruded and machined. But the hardtails is what I’m referencing.
If you have the blue and silver frame of a 98 factory, I have the sets. I think I may have a few. Can you post pics of your bike that way I can make sure? The 98’s are different than the 97’s….I am looking for 97’s. Wish I could find them.

I sent a letter to yeti hoping to get a list of serial numbers for the homegrown builds they have done. Lets hope for the best.
I’m 99% sure yours is yeti. I have a few other factory frames that I will try to get the numbers on to try and confirm. I know all my non factorys start with a number- hence, no “H”, or “HV” code. The bassboat blue on one of my bikes is a little toooo thick. Hopefully we have more posts from different people too!
