I don’t have a 2000 or newer Homegrown to check clearance with, BUT my 17″ 1998 hardtail will fit 26×2.8″ Maxxis DHR tires. Only good for 1x setups as the tire would hit a front derailleur. I’ll post up pics tomorrow.

Not bad paint. The white line on top tube is what is left of the original “S” wrap decal. The downtube decals are genuine Homegrown for 98-99 models.

Well, I will have 2 now.
First to sell will be a 15″ Factory sweet spot that is the silver/silver. It has the Deluxe rear shock, and the shock eyelets are worn. Turned out that was the only problem with my other sweet spot. This frame originally came with the Super Deluxe, so when I swapped it with my other frames shock, the “clunk” went away from my other frame and jumped into this frame. The bike is built with XT shifters/v-brakes/hubs. STX-RC remaining drivetrain. Marzocchi Z3 2001 with polished M-arch and crown. Mavic red X-517 rims. Titec sliver aluminum seatpost. Polished stem/handlebar/bar ends. Definitaly a looker.
Next is a 17″ Factory BBB front triangle/polished rear. Needs a decal kit. Freshly cleaned and lubed pivot with no slop, plus a nice RS Super Deluxe. It’s set up with 1×10 with XT shifter/cassette/crankset and an XTR rear der. XT rear v-brake, XTR front v-brake (faded color mathes the fork perfectly). Fox F80X fork with silver legs and blue decals. I have different wheel options, but most likely sell with XT hubs on dark blue Mavic 222 rims. Titec polished Titanium seatpost, Avid SAAGO polished stem and Yeti polished flat bar.
I understand, and I hope it does go to a good home. I’m considering letting a handfull of bikes go in the first quarter next year myself. I get my satisfaction in building them up and rarely ride some of them after I’m done. Keep your eyes open next year for a 4-Banger, Homegrown Sweet-Spot and a Paramount resto-mod MTB.
Thanks for the link to CastellanoDesigns.com. John Castellano himself already emailed me back with tons of information. I need to disassemble my bike and troubleshoot per his description. I’m happy to find out these frames are not forgotten and can be made new again. John even offers to perform the work, which could include machining, at his California facility. WooHoo
I purchased the silver 15″ complete bike on eBay in hopes that the bushings are in good condition. If so, I’ll use those bushings and then have a spare rear triangle that I can have disc tabs welded to. That eBay bike also had the Super Deluxe shock which I also wanted since mine had the lesser Deluxe version. I might be offering up a 15″ front triangle in the near future.
Hey @dyebhai, thanks for the Shapeways information. I had never heard of that site. I actually went on it, created an account, and ordered a seat clamp made out of steel that I have been holding off getting machined. The local machine shops are quoting me $350 to make this darn tear-drop shaped seat collar for a NOS 2011 GT GTR carbon frame I mistakenly purchased without a seat clamp. Those things are impossible to locate and are unique to the frame. The 3D print charge was $55.50 to my door.
The only file type I could upload to Shapeways was .stl. Send me a direct message with your email and I will be able to email you the .stl file free of charge!! I may start uploading 3D files to Shapeways to make some spare change.

That’s a good looking bike, and you got it at a GREAT PRICE!!
My impression is that the frame was originally sold as a frame only, or could have been a warranty replacement. Nothing pictured above would have come on it from the Schwinn factory except maybe the rear derailleur. I’m not saying that in a bad way. It looks like there is a Syncros seatpost, Race Face crankset, Marzocchi fork, etc. is all good stuff, but not what Schwinn was equiping bikes with at the time.
If you’re frugal I would not recommend going to disc. You’re going to need new wheels front and back plus the calipers/rotors and levers if going hydraulic. The frame isn’t made for it either, so you would need some version of an adapter. All in all it’s $$$.

I am not the seller of these, but I have experience using the A2Z brand version that is similar.
The Magura I.S. options have all fit. I have also had success with Hope Mono Mini I.S. calipers. Unfortunately, Shimano XTR I.S. caliper does not fit without further frame modification to seat stay tube. You will need to use an I.S. FRONT caliper with this adapter. The third picture above shows a REAR Magura caliper which would require you to use a 180mm rotor. The 180mm rotor does not clear all chainstays. You need to use a 160mm rotor in the rear.
