tomatoadminKeymasterNice, glad you found one!

tomatoadminKeymasterWhat Livernose said. Lots of guys running 100s these days.
tomatoadminKeymasterGreat looking bike!
tomatoadminKeymasterGreat build, mtbric!
tomatoadminKeymasterIf it’s a 2001 I would just build with disc brakes, since it’s got the IS standard mount on the frame. Obviously not as light/simple as v-brakes but easy to source and be consistent on frame and fork.
tomatoadminKeymasterCool, glad you found the site. Bike looks to be in great shape!
tomatoadminKeymasterBeauty. I think one on ebay recently went around $500.
tomatoadminKeymasterAlso very jealous of all the ’97 BBB Sweet Spots. I’ve been looking for a 17″ forever…
tomatoadminKeymaster$600 would be a good deal for you. Going rate lately seems to be closer to $400 but it depends on the buyer…you might get lucky if someone really wants that particular frame/color, but generally speaking the older frames are a little less desirable these days since everyone wants (ISO) discs. There’s one like yours near Chicago that’s been on craigslist for $500 or so for at least a year, if not longer.
Completed listings on ebay are always a good resource; there’s bikes currently on auction with high prices that have been on there for months.
tomatoadminKeymasterUnbelievable deal for the bike but watch out for tire clearance on the frame. Even if there’s clearance when you’re just spinning the wheel in the workstand it’s possible there will be rub when cornering, under load, etc. These were originally designed for narrower tires.
tomatoadminKeymasterI should’ve added those were available as framesets, so it’s probably more likely a custom build from the start than replacing a bunch of parts. Dur.
tomatoadminKeymasterLooks like a ’97 XT with some upgraded parts. Here’s the model, though the catalog picture is of the polished frame: http://bonustomato.com/models/1997-homegrown-hardtail-xt-ht

Michael,
I just found an old box with some bike stuff in it, and I came across the bass boat blue nail polish we use to use for touch ups……….you can see spots where I already used it and it is a perfect match other than thickness. I will send you a photo of the bottle and you might be able to track it down somewhere. I don’t know if they still make the same brand but maybe there is something out there similar. It is tough stuff…….[/quote]
Is it the Wet ‘n Wild stuff or something else?
tomatoadminKeymasterSweet ride. Lucky son!
tomatoadminKeymasterLooks like a 15″ or 17″ frame. They’re measured center to top so it will be easy to verify.
You need an ICBM headset. Cane Creek still had them if you called them, last I heard. Might be around on websites or ebay too.I’ve used Flitz metal polish with really good results on old clear anodizing. I need to do a write-up on that, but just follow their directions and it’s impressive.
Still working on repo decals for those. Velocals has some of the older ones but I don’t think they have those. Could be wrong, though.
