ParticipantI bought the frame some time ago. Hanging on the wall now, waiting for parts someday 🙂

ParticipantThat’s normal. I’ve seen lots of BBO Homegrowns, and the paint varies wildly. I’ve seen very bright orange, all the way to super dark, almost red, like mine.
Maybe paint quality control was a little lacking, or maybe it was very tough to do the bass boat. Who knows. I don’t think Orange is the only color that varies so much either.

ParticipantI got that image from somewhere on the mtbr forums. I would love to have the rest as well.

ParticipantThe black ones are going to be hard to find. They’re more sought after than the silver ones, because they’re newer and have the newer brake mounting hole spacing. If you find a set of silver ones, you might consider using those so you can at least ride it again. But then you’d have to do something about a different rear brake…
Good luck with your search.

ParticipantA Fox Alps 5r will work. One of my Sweet Spots has one.
Sweet (spot) find! BB Green is very cool, and not very common.

ParticipantI was just going to post a topic regarding rear disks on Bangers. I’ve got Avid BB7’s front and rear on mine, both 185. My rear rotor makes all sorts of noise, and I thinks it’s rubbing the bolts like you said bikeric. Just sitting there, there is clearance, but it’s close. I think that carbon swingarm flexes while riding, and causes rubbing.
Oldschool, I’d be interested in fiding out of your adapter could run my BB7’s with a 160mm rotor. I’ll get some measurements, and if not, maybe I could pay you to make something up for me.

ParticipantGood luck with that.
There’s a 15 inch Homegrown frame on ebay right now.

ParticipantThat is awesome!

ParticipantI would venture to guess that since 01 Straight bikes aren’t Homegrowns, then they were probably made in Taiwan.
Here is a group for the Straight bikes that may have some members that could answer your questions. Plus, plenty of pictures.

ParticipantI still need to look for some orange nail polish for my BBO. What I figured out was that the orange that chipped off is actually just transparent orange. The bass boat sparkle is still on the frame. It must have been put on in two stages. Maybe that’s why it’s a very fragile paint job.

ParticipantSomewhere I’ve seen the catalog pages for the 01 Straight 8. I don’t have a copy myself though. I think they’re not on this site, because they’re not technically considered Homegrowns, even though they’re related. Maybe John knows someone with a copy of the complete catalog? I’ve only got 96-99 catalogs.
Pull shock frames are more common, but the shocks aren’t.

ParticipantThe 01 push shock Straight 6 is essentially the same as a 4 Banger, just with a longer travel shock.

The Push Shock Straight 8 is an entirely different beast. Here is an example:

ParticipantLooks great, good deal!
Better orange than mine, mine is really dark. That one is more orange-y. Seems the BBO wasn’t very consistant.
