ParticipantAwesome! Now we need pictures!

ParticipantYou beat me to it.
Looks like a 98 to me. 21″ size too.

ParticipantIf you can’t get the picture up, you can email it to me and I’ll put it on here for you.

ParticipantA lot of times the frames would show up without those stickers on them. I remember somewhere on this forum, somebody telling a story about buying the same bike and those stickers weren’t on it.
If you decide to start riding again, you couldn’t start with a better bike!

ParticipantI’m not sure of the answers to your questions, but when the subject of Sweetspot bushings comes up, I always refer people to this thread.

It looks like John Castellano, the guy that designed the Sweetspot, has bushings for sale, possibly more Sweetspot parts. Gime him a call or email.

ParticipantAll the 95’s I’ve seen (not very many) have either been red or black. The two tone thing seems to have started in 96. However, go to the catalog scans section, look at the next to last page of the 95 Homegrown Catalog. It’s got a guy on a two tone hardtail that looks a little like yours. Plus, the 96 and 97 two tone colors are reversed from yours.
I would guess yours is a rare paint job. It’s been evidenced many times before that there are Homegrowns out there that aren’t in the catalogs. Yours looks great!

ParticipantIf you can do a good bass boat paint, I may have to hire you for a custom frame job in the future!

ParticipantThey’re not handbuilt in the US, so they’re not Homegrowns. I’m pretty sure they’re the same geometry as the Sweet Spot HGs. They’re still a Schwinn, and still a sweet bike, just a bit lower down the ladder, and more affordable.

ParticipantI’ve heard that the 00-01 tubing was made of anything from super secret Schwinn metal, to 7005 aluminum, to a Scandium alloy. Who knows. But 00-01 frames have nothing to do with Yeti or Control Tech. They are completely different frames.

ParticipantA lot of people make single speeds out of them. The URT design really lends itself well to a SS conversion. Technically, it’s not made in America, the Carbon frame was made in Taiwan. I think this is why Schwinn called it a Homegrown in 98 only, in 99 they called it an S-series. If you have the rear triangle with the tomato on it, I’m pretty sure that part was made in America.
I actually rode mine tonight for a few hours. I really like it. Of all my Homegrowns, it gets ridden the most. Probably because only 2 are in rideable condition!

ParticipantGood deal on the ’99 Black $100 frame.
AWESOME deal on the Green Sweet Spot for $300.

ParticipantI could be wrong but that 99 looks like a 21″

ParticipantIf you’re talking about these:
They’re the real deal. I bought a set, and they’re made by the same company that made the originals. The actual decals are very thin, you remove the backing, place it on the frame, and remove the top layer. I bought a set to make some reproductions from, but I haven’t tried anything yet. Still $150 is pretty pricey.

ParticipantInteresting. I’ve never seen one before like it and it took me by surprise.
I’ve got another sticker question to pick your brain with. It seems that almost all the 6061 frames have the square “6061” sticker on the downtube right above the BB. Of all the Homegrown pictures I’ve collected and saved, I’ve never seen any 7005 frame with the same square sticker on it. Seems the Factories don’t have them. Do you remember seeing any?

ParticipantSorry, I’ve only got one, and it’s going on my banger. Wish I could help ya out.
The black ones are much harder to find than the red ones. Good luck
